Taste, Technique, Triumph: Crafting an Enduring Wine Legacy

the three ts

TASTE

At Wright Vineyards, taste is not just a feature; it’s the heart and soul of our winemaking philosophy.

Take our Ocelot Blanc du Bois, for instance, where vibrant pineapple, mango an citrus flavors meet the delicate essence of white peach and melon flavors. Pair it with a myriad of culinary delights such as shrimp scampi, sushi, or chicken piccata, and witness the magic of taste unfold.

The Nilgai Bull Lenoir, adorned with a dark and deep ruby hue, is an experience to behold. With enchanting aromas of persimmon, dry cherry, and cranberry, the wine offers rich notes of dark plum and cherry, leading to a delightful baking spice finale. Each sip, carefully crafted to complement robust flavors, finds its ideal accompaniment in dishes like pizza, BBQ, or Vodka Sauce.

Rattlesnake Rosé, born from the Lenoir grape, showcases a captivating medley of strawberries, cherries, and rhubarb. The mere minutes of skin contact and the touch of residual sugar provide a unique and biting sensation. Best enjoyed with white cheddar, brie, or Jarlsberg cheese, this exceptional wine also pairs wonderfully with smoked ribs, pork belly carnitas, or the velvety indulgence of dark chocolate mousse.

Altamira Oriole Orange Blanc du Bois takes on notes of spice, with hints of anise, clove, and tobacco. Its vibrant flavors of orange peel, zesty grapefruit, and a touch of smooth vanilla capture the palate.  Pair with game meats, delicate shellfish, feta, Manchego, cruciferous salads, and grilled vegetables.

Bobcat Blush Lenoir is subtly sweet with smoky warmth.  Notes of cranberry, raspberries and cherries make this wine delicious!  Pair with fajitas, roast, BBQ, pizza, and soft cheeses like brie, camembert, or Neufchatel.

TECHNIQUE

Technique is not just a feature at Wright Vineyards; it’s the heart and soul of our winemaking philosophy. We hold a profound respect for the land and the ecosystem that sustains us, which guides every decision we make in preserving nature’s balance.

Embracing sustainable and organic farming methods, we pay homage to tradition by closely monitoring soil moisture and vine stress to determine irrigation needs.  Managing pH levels and implementing precise irrigation techniques minimizes water waste and underscores our commitment to eco-conscious practices.

In our pursuit of biodynamic farming, we take a holistic approach by raising a diverse range of animals alongside the vineyard.  This plays a vital role in promoting soil health, aiding pollination, managing canopies, and controlling pests. We are dedicated to respecting and enhancing the natural balance within the vineyard.

Our tradition extends to the very heart of winemaking, where we honor the life cycle of the grape. Each vine variety, from Lenoir and Blanc du Bois to Convent and several Walker strains, is cultivated with meticulous care and a deep understanding of its unique characteristics. The alluvial soils, shaped by ancient Rio Grande River flooding, impart rich flavors and a distinct sense of place to our fruit.

TRIUMPH

When floodwaters engulfed our cherished vineyard, we refused to be defeated. Rallying friends and family, we embarked on a mission to reclaim our land. Through relentless teamwork, we pumped out the water, fostering a deep sense of camaraderie and determination.

Turning adversity into an advantage, the flood’s aftermath enriched the soil, yielding grapes of exceptional quality. This united effort transformed a potential catastrophe into a tale of triumph, proving that with unity and unwavering resolve, even the most daunting challenges can be transformed into opportunities for growth.
